About Camp Mishkan

Mishkan Israel Day Camp has been providing children from the entire community with memorable summer experiences for over three decades! Conveniently located in North Stamford, CT, Mishkan boasts registration of boys and girls from the many cities and towns throughout the Fairfield County Connecticut and Westchester County New York areas.

At Mishkan Israel, each individual child is given the opportunity to express his/her own talents and abilities. Meeting five days a week, the diverse schedule of field trips, athletics, swimming, exciting activities and games, is perfectly consistent with the preferences of kids today. Self-Growth and creativity are encouraged through songs, discussion groups, arts & crafts, and dramatics.

A staff of dedicated young men and women implement programs and activities in a uniquely exciting and lively way. From the 9:00 A.M. camp roll call until the 4:00 P.M. assembly for dismissal, the vivacious spirit of joy and pride is Mishkan Israel’s most prominent feature.

All campers at Mishkan Israel Day Camp are divided into age groups appropriate for individualized attention and supervision. An average group consists of eight to ten campers. Under the guidance of a counselor and a junior counselor, campers in each group work together as a team, and learn the value of friendship and unity.

Sports

Mishkan Israel Day Camp’s wide variety of sports activities include baseball, basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, field hockey, and more. With patient guidance and encouragement, campers develop sportsmanship, leadership, self-confidence, and the ability to enjoy all sports.

Of course, safety personnel are present at all times during sports activities. After all, safety is our primary concern!

Swimming

As part of the Mishkan Israel Day Camp activity, daily recreational swimming, water sports, and swimming instruction take place in full-sized heated swimming pools. Water activities provide campers with a refreshing way to enjoy the hot summer months. All aquatic activities are under constant, careful supervision of trained, experienced and certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and lifeguard personnel. After all, safety is our primary concern!

Field Trips

Every week Mishkan Israel Day Camp holds a “trip day”. Over the course of the summer, campers visit many of Southern Connecticut's major attractions. Some trips in past years have been to: My Three Sons, Lake Compounce, Ice Skating, The Children’s Museum, Pump It Up, Norwalk Maritime Center, Horseback Riding, The Stratford Sport Center, The Discovery Museum, and more...

Group Placement

Safety at all times is our number one concern and priority! Mishkan Israel has a ratio of 5 campers for every counselor.

Art and Music

In an effort to promote positive child development as well as to provide an opportunity for creative fun, arts and music are an important component of the Mishkan Israel camp curriculum. Directed by outstanding trained and qualified creative arts counselors, arts, song, and music are an integral part of the daily camp activities.

During the eight weeks of camp, campers have an opportunity to sing the classic, and the up and going Jewish songs that they know, at the same time learning those they may not have yet encountered. The unique musical experience is one of the things that make Camp Mishkan so special.
